Yet another ingestion of intellect, information and insurrection on tonight’s show! Can literature have a civilizing effect on young offenders? At what age do women’s thoughts turn away from romance and towards crime? And most importantly, what the heck is happening to Johnny and Priscilla in this week’s impromptu episode of Magenta Divine?
Here to enlighten and enliven you ce soir are:
- Penny Grubb, author of The Jawbone Gang, The Doll Makers and Like False Money – Penny is also chair of the Authors Licensing and Collecting Society, the largest writers’ organization in the world – if you’re a UK author, you should join!
- Born in Glasgow by a Scots father and Dutch mother, Dirk Robertson is a trained Shakespearian actor, a lecturer and consultant in Social Welfare and Media Studies – and also an author. He’s taught creative writing and drama to young offenders, and is currently in Virginia, USA, where he’s developing literary projects for young people involved in gangs, delinquency and criminal behaviour. Dirk’s books include Highland T’ing, Bad Day For A Fat Boy, and Deep Powder .
- An enthusiastic writer since the age of nine, James McCreet‘s publishing debut was The Incendiary’s Trail, begun in 2006 and written entirely in Harrogate, Yorkshire. Success soon followed with The Vice Society and The Thieves’ Labyrinth. He has recently finished the fourth book in the series, which will be published in 2012.
With the indefatigable Ali in the chat room, Dave Bartram and Peter Cox.
