Taking It Up The Amis

Martin Amis, vieillard terrible of the UK lit scene, thinks children’s writers are “brain damaged”.  The problem, Mr. Amis, with insulting other writers is that they are liable to strike back – often far more wittily and pungently than your dwindling powers apparently permit you to.  Tonight’s show is a case in point: listen and learn a little humility from your peers.

We also tackle World Book Night, California’s zombie mobile response team, schadenfreude, and the terrific and terrifically moving lecture by Michael Morpurgo, one of our leading authors for children… click here (quickly – the BBC iPlayer will expire in a few days) to experience an unforgettable author at the height of his powers.

Tonight’s panellists include Morgen Bailey, Dave Bartram, Eve Harvey and Donna Ballman.  But it was you, in the chatroom, that made it special… join us in the chatroom next Friday… and remember… Rule 2: You don’t fight at book club!
